Introduction

Silky Kitchen is a fast casual Chinese restaurant located on a busy corner site in Union Square offering tons of different kinds of soup noodles, dry mix noodles, dumplings, served in authentic Hunan real spicy food for New York.

The idea for the restaurant came in 2012 when NYU graduate Simon Sheh was on a return visit to China with his wife. While visiting his wife’s hometown of Hunan, he was overwhelmed by the taste of the food, which was accompanied by rice noodles. The two thought it would be a great idea to have similar food in New York City.

Six years later, on August 25, 2018, Silky Kitchen was opened.

The Hunanese designed menu is based on 16 toppings, a combination of rice, and rice noodles, and of course,  preferred spice level.

Silky Kitchen has the spiciest Chinese food in New York City. We recommend that new customers start out with a REGULAR or MEDIUM level of spice, and work their way up to HOT or EXTRA SPICY.

We currently have 3 locations serving the neighborhood in Union Square, Times Square, and Long Island City.

Hunan Chinese Food

Hunan Province is located in Central China. The province has had a longtime proclivity for spicy and tasty food. There are annual contest Chili eating contests, and songs talking about Hunan’s spicy food, which effects the temperaments of the men and women.

Although Hunan Chinese food is spicy, the dishes are extremely tasty. You’ll find that at Silky Kitchen, all of our dishes were designed with taste as the primary goal.
